What is the difference between recycled PET fabric and ordinary polyester fabric?

2022-11-22

RPET fabric is a new type of environment-friendly recycled fabric, which is called Recycled PET Fabric in English, also known as recycled PET fabric.

Recycled PET fabric
RPET fabric is a new type of environment-friendly recycled fabric, which is called Recycled PET Fabric in English, also known as recycled PET fabric.
The yarn is extracted from recycled mineral water bottles and Coke bottles (also known as Coke bottle environment-friendly cloth). The plastic bottle (600cc)=carbon reduction 25.2g=oil saving 0.52cc=water saving 88.6cc.
Each ton of PET yarn can save 6 tons of oil, which contributes to reducing air pollution and controlling the greenhouse effect.
As it is a new type of green, renewable and environment-friendly fabric, its low carbon source has made great contributions to saving oil resources and protecting the ecological environment.
Therefore, it is very popular abroad, especially in developed countries in Europe and the United States. It is widely used in vests, shirts, skirts, children's wear, silk scarves, cheongsam, ties, handkerchiefs, household textiles, curtains, pajamas, bows, gift bags, sleeves, fashionable umbrellas, pillow cases, pillows, etc.
Ordinary polyester fabric
Polyester, or polyester fiber, was invented in 1941 and is an important variety of synthetic fibers.
Polyester is prepared by esterification or transesterification and polycondensation of pure terephthalic acid (PTA) or dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) and ethylene glycol (MEG). Polymer.
The greatest advantage of the fiber made by spinning and post-processing is its good wrinkle resistance and shape retention.
It is well known that ordinary polyester yarn is made of petroleum.
Ordinary polyester fabric: it is ordinary polyester (POLY), and its chemical name is polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
Its tensile breaking strength and elongation at break are higher than those of cotton fiber, and it has good heat resistance and thermal stability.
Because of its many excellent properties, it is widely used in clothing, household textiles, decoration and industrial products. Its rapid development speed and high output are called "the crown of chemical fiber".
However, the most common polyester fabrics have the following characteristics:
1. High strength. The strength of short fiber is 2.65.7cN/dtex, and that of high toughness fiber is 5.68.0cN/dtex.
2. Due to its low hygroscopicity, its wet strength and dry strength are basically the same.
3. The impact resistance is 4 times higher than nylon and 20 times higher than viscose fiber.
4. Good flexibility. The elasticity is close to wool, and can be almost completely recovered when stretching 5% to 6%.
5. Wrinkle resistance is superior to other fibers, that is, the fabric is wrinkle free and has good dimensional stability.
6. The elastic modulus is 22141cN/dtex, 23 times that of nylon. The polyester fiber has high strength and elastic recovery capacity, so it is durable, wrinkle resistant and does not iron.
7. The fiber formed by melt spinning to produce heat-resistant polyester, which can be reheated and melted again, is a thermoplastic fiber. The melting point of polyester is high, but the specific heat capacity and thermal conductivity are small, so the heat resistance and heat insulation of polyester fiber are high. It is the best synthetic fiber.
8. Good thermoplasticity, poor melting resistance. Polyester is the most heat-resistant fabric among synthetic fibers because of its smooth surface and tightly arranged internal molecules.
9. It is thermoplastic and can be made into pleated skirts with lasting folds. At the same time, polyester fabric has poor melting resistance and is easy to form holes in the presence of soot and sparks. Therefore, try to avoid contact with cigarette butts and sparks when wearing.
10. Good wear resistance. The abrasion resistance is second only to nylon, which has the best abrasion resistance and is better than other natural fibers and synthetic fibers.
11. Good light fastness. Light resistance is second only to acrylic fiber. The light resistance of polyester fabric is better than that of acrylic fiber, but its light resistance is better than that of natural fiber fabric. Especially, the light resistance behind the glass is very good, almost as good as that of acrylic acid.
12. Preservatives. It is resistant to bleach, oxidants, hydrocarbons, ketones, petroleum products and inorganic acids. It is resistant to dilute alkali and is not afraid of mildew, but hot alkali will decompose it. It also has strong acid and alkali resistance and UV resistance.
13. Although the dyeing property is poor, the color fastness is good and it is not easy to fade. Because there is no specific dye group on the molecular chain of polyester and the polarity is small, it is difficult to dye, easy to dye, and the dye molecules are not easy to enter the fiber.
14. Poor moisture absorption, feeling stuffy when wearing, easy to be polluted by static electricity and dust, affecting the appearance and comfort. However, it is very easy to dry after washing, and the wet strength almost does not drop, does not deform, and has good washing and wear properties.
Differences between recycled polyester and ordinary polyester
Different performance
1. The strength of regenerated polyester fiber is poor.
2. The strength and other properties of polyester fiber are relatively good.
Different raw materials
1. Recycled polyester is granulated with recycled materials (PET bottles, foams, etc.), and then drawn into fibers.
2. Polyester fiber is made from chemical raw materials PTA and MEG by polymerization, esterification and drawing.
Polyester yarn refers to the yarn spun with polyester as the raw material. Polyester is a kind of fiber made of polymer by spinning. At present, it mostly refers to the fiber produced with ethylene terephthalate as the raw material. According to the abbreviation of "polyethylene terephthalate" in English, it is referred to as "PET" fiber. It is commonly known as polyester in China.
Regenerated polyester staple fiber is made of polyester cloth, waste polyester bottle flakes, spinning waste silk, bubble materials and pulp blocks. The waste bottle flakes are crushed and cleaned, and the mixture of various materials is dried, melted and extruded, spun, wound, bundled, drawn, curled, relaxed and heat set. After cutting, different lengths of polyester staple fibers are formed.
In contrast, environment-friendly polyester not only has the advantages of ordinary polyester, but also tends to the concept of green environmental protection. It is more suitable for customers.
